Why Samui wounds get infected
Heat, humidity, seawater and sand are a perfect storm for wound infection. A graze that would scab over back home can stay open and get infected here within a day or two. If a wound is getting redder, more painful, warm or starting to weep, don't wait — message us.

Yes, especially if there's grit in the graze, the cut is deep or wide, or it's still bleeding. Early cleaning is what prevents infection and scarring. Message us a photo and we'll tell you whether to come in or manage it at home.
A doctor decides once the wound is cleaned. As a rule, cuts that gape open, are deep, or sit on the face or over a joint usually need closing. Send a photo and we'll advise.
Yes. We remove stitches, cosmetic sutures and surgical staples — including work done at another clinic or hospital — and check the wound is healing well.
Increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pain or discharge can mean infection, which spreads quickly in the tropics. Come in the same day if you can — we'll clean it and start antibiotics if needed.
